18VDC BLDC motor – custom wiring, custom shaft and custom face mount

To help our customers overcome difficulties sourcing motors from their current supplier, and to give them a reliable second-source option, we helped develop a new 18VDC high-speed BLDC motor.

The project started in 2020, when the customer first contacted us with their requirements. We quickly provided a standard sample so that early testing could begin. However, it soon became clear that an off-the-shelf solution would not be enough. The customer needed backward compatibility and wanted to keep their existing driver board. By analyzing their current motor, we were able to identify the electrical specifications required.

We then produced design samples and carried out more thorough testing. After some fine-tuning, we finalized the product and began investing in new tooling for volume production.

Together with the customer, we ultimately developed a solution that met all of their specifications while ensuring backward compatibility, competitive pricing and short lead times. As an added benefit, we were also able to offer local stock on demand. The motor is now used in a battery-powered tool with high demands on reliability and performance.
